I was lucky enough to study in London in my early 20’s. My mom sent me a book in the mail which was terrific-ly expensive! I don’t know what got into her to be so frivolous, but I’m so glad she was! Anyway, it was a beautiful memoir, “Return to Paris” by Collette Rossant. It came with a warning: “I’m starting you a collection of French Books”. She knew that I would soon be going to Paris for my first visit on a school break and she was living vicariously through my experiences as she soldiered on at home, living normal life. What a wonderful threat – music to my ears! And she has found me some wonderful ones to add to my collection, which is about 14 years old. I figure I can keep adding to this project until I’m on my death bed. And what a fun thing to leave on after I go– either as a whole or broken up to children, nieces, nephews, friends, etc. These books are really something special to me and I love keeping an eye out for fantastic, special tomes to add to the collection.
This may be the perfect thing for you – either for yourself or to give as a gift to a loved one. It’s Schole meets The Thrill of the Hunt!
